Franson is intriguing but I'd wager he's looking for something in the 5's...? Our D is what it is barring a trade.

People really don't seem to like Franson. He was pretty decent when he was on the Leafs I thought. Not the best defensively, but he provided some good offence. You'd think he would have worked on his game in his own end over the years, buuut no teams seem to be hot on the guy so maybe that tells you everything you need to know...

They won't have the cap room. His cap hit was $3.3 million last year, although looking at his stats from the last two seasons and the fact that he's still unsigned he probably won't be getting that kind of money on his next deal. Reilly and Olofsson are now both on one-way contracts, and they also signed Kyle Quincey so it's looking like a full blue-line, on paper anyway.

Suter - Spurgeon
Brodin - Dumba
Olofsson/Reilly - Quincey

That second pairing looks iffy as well... Dumba's hopefully motivated in a contract year to get it together!

Counldnt agree more. Dumba's 11 goals and being a plus 15 looks real iffy.

If you knew anything about hockey you'd see his underlying metrics place him as one of the worst defenders and play pushers on the team. Why does that matter you ask? Because he acts as a boat anchor to Brodin.

I know nothing about hockey. I m so grateful you are on here to teach me. Dumba is being missed used. (learn that from you) Just like Galchenyuk. That is why he is an anchor to Brodin

They should have traded Dumba instead of Scandella. Dumba being only 22 has no upside at all compared to the 27 year old Scandella.

BTW,

Mr. All Knowledge of Hockey, remember how you said Fletch should have traded Scandella for Galchenyuk and then the Wild would be able to sign him for only $2ml a year? You were only off by $3ml a year or 66%.

You realize you contradicted yourself. You claimed that Shattenkirk is garbage the other day even though he blows Dumba out of the water in basically every category. So which is it? Dumba, while being young and having offensive upside runs around like a chicken with his head cut off in the D zone. Which is why he is predominantly given offensive zone starts. The iffy comes from that fact. If he doesnt improve his D game then the pairing of Dumba and Brodin will be as bemoaned as the pairing of Scandella and Dumba was last year. And I never said he'd only make 2 mil nice try... I also said Galchenyuk was making 2.5 mil right now and his raise would not be substantial, which it wasnt considering he's penciled in as Montreal's top line center as of now. Anything else?

He's not penciled as their top line center. In fact, he isnt even penciled in as a center. He will start off as a wing. And Shattenkirk isnt worth $6.5ml a year. Much rather have Dumba at $2ml this coming year.

Per Hockey Wilderness...
"But for all the "Dumba allows too many chances in front of the net" people, just know that he allowed the 10th fewest scoring chances against for defenseman with >500 minutes in *the entire NHL*"

I do have something else. Could you try to not whine so much on every move the wild makes or doesnt make? There not all going to be Clutterbuck for Nino moves.

Take a look at Montreals center depth, the tweets from the Montreal beat writers and even the articles on this site about his signing and then get back to me. As for Dumba I'll make it easy for you. Just go to own the puck. It's a statistics site which will break down Dumba's game.

Also the reason people like me are whining about the Wild's moves or lack there of is because we've watched the team mired in mediocrity for their whole existence. Fletcher's moves have us stuck in neutral. No one looks at this team as being better today then when they ended last season. The had a great regular season and flamed out in the playoffs. Rinse-wash-rinse repeat. I hope Dumba takes the next step but because of Fletchers wonderful cap navigating that just means the Wild will be forced to give away Zucker or another good player for peanuts. If they had won a cup that would be understandable, but right now the Wild cant afford to be going backwards. Poille said it best. The good GM's are the ones who can look past their own picks and realize when it's time to shake their team up with a major trade.

No, because who of his young guys has he ever traded to try and improve the team? He traded Burns but he didn't draft him. He deals future picks which also haven't yielded him very good results. Clutterbuck also wasn't a Fletcher pick... He keeps the team status quo and it's not getting them anywhere. Granlund, Zucker, Coyle, Brodin, Dumba and Ek are all Fletcher picks and with the exception of Ek have all been here for 3 seasons or more now. We know what we have in this team as constructed barring any changes. So honest question to everyone on here: Kuznetzov just signed for about 8 mil per yer and had less points than Granlund this season after posting 77 last season. Assuming Granlunds agent uses that as a comparison is anyone comfortable giving him 7-8 mil per season? Just curious.
